Surprisingly… or not… I was completely correct. Won’t divulge too much for the sake of not spoiling!
But god can i read people!
I enjoyed this book, then it dragged, and then I enjoyed it again. The middle was a little dragging, but it was necessary for each of the chapters. The story did move, rather slowly sometimes, but there wasn’t a section that was unimportant.
Silla was vulnerable and sensitive, then insufferable, and then surprisingly capable! She was sensitive, revealed her secrets to the readers in a phenomenal timeline. Sometimes I wanted to shake her for being naive, slow, and just not thinking. She was the first character I’ve seen who truely acts as young as 20 actually is.
There were some events that I don’t see much in romantasy/fantasy, like she threw some serious curveballs in here and did not go for the easy plot twists. Which I cannot enjoy more.
It was a good, long book inspired by Old Norse and Islandic culture. It was a fun book, every time you picked up to read left you leaving with a different thought process
