I loved the first book’s plot, but how you feel about this followup really depends on how invested you were in Odette because all roads lead back to her here. There’s less mess but more heart. It starts off slow to incorporate the separate storylines of El Walker (fka Marcus Henry) and Terry (aka Audrey), until they converge with Odette’s narrative. Their presences send ripples through her circle but highlight the themes of found family, forgiveness, and the fearlessness that a father’s love and reassurance should provide.
