The Municipalists by Seth Fried
2.0
I really, really wanted to like this book, but couldn't bring myself to do it. The story wasn't exciting enough to make me want to read on, I had to drag myself through the pages. And everytime this book does get a little interesting, the mood gets killed by lengthy discriptions of buildings, roads, railway systems and model trains. Also there are so many things in there that you've seen a hundred times before: The Artificial Intelligence who imitades human behavior with hilarious results, the nerdy orphan who becomes a hero and the villains who basically fight for the right thing but use morally unacceptable methods. Nothing about this book feels original - I was bored most of the times. If it hadn't been for the jokes and humour (the drunk AI was my favourite) I wouldn't have finished it. So all in all: Nice jokes, lame story.
