Accidentally Engaged will grab you with it's charm and wit from the very beginning.
And if that's not enough to keep you, bring your appetite and food lust!
Thank you to Read Forever, Grand Central Publishing and Hachette Books for my gifted copy for review!
Reena Manji is 31, the middle child, and unmarried - despite her parents' best efforts to find a suitable mate for her. When Nadim moves in across the hall (a "brown Captain America", as Reena describes), she soon learns he is the latest in a line of men intended as a set-up for marriage.
Reena is a gifted baker and cook, passions that overshadow her career in (yawn) finance.
When the opportunity presents for her to compete on a FoodTV show, all she needs is a spouse to meet the family-friendly show criteria. Neighbor Nadim also fits that bill.
But is he as perfect as he seems?
Canadian author Farah Heron's newest novel was one of my most-anticipated reads this year and it was absolutely worthy of the hype.
I adored the characters, especially sassy and independent Reena. The family dynamic of meddling versus loyalty, the Ismaili Muslim culture and connecting roots through food, were fantastic backdrops.
If you love your rom-coms with a lot of rom and a lot of com, with some lovely diversity and a Canadian setting as a bonus, absolutely do check out Accidentally Engaged.
