A story of grief and loss filtered through the prism of cosmic horror. Clearly inspired by the likes of H.P. Lovecraft, not least in its New England setting, but eschews the traditional antiquated prose in favour of something resembling a campfire story. It works for the most part, although it could have done with some more editing to expunge the occasional clunky sentence. Plenty of unsettling images and a spinetingling glimpse of what awaits us beyond the veil.
