Slatter remains at the top of her game writing engaging, original, and truly dark fantasy-fairytales with layered, competent characters and intricate, engaging plots. I think the pacing of this book was slow and fragmented in the beginning, there were quite a lot of pieces to lay and fit together, but the payoff was excellent and the last third was a total page turner.
