One of the best romance novels I’ve read this year that tackles friendships in a way that feels real and relatable with the banter, but also complex and nuanced when it comes to emotional impact and communication.

Communication in general with this story is tackled so well, even if it is a bit idealized at times.

The romance and relationship between Josie and Will was sublime. They’re both relatable for their insecurities, Josie especially, even if I don’t relate to them very much as whole. And that’s the brilliance of the writing - that I can care about characters who are very different than me and who I don’t have a lot in common with, but still wholeheartedly ship them together anyways.

This was comfort food for my soul and in spite of how much I was offended by the ending (you know what you did Clare Gilmore), I also respect the hell out of it. Because either outcome doesn’t change the story that comes before it, despite how much not knowing irritates the crap outta my brain.

I’d definitely read from this author again, and if you want a quick pick-me-up romance read, this one is a great choice.
