Red Country by Joe Abercrombie
4.0
Red Country is dedicated to Clint Eastwood, which gives a slight idea of the type of story this is. The hints to classic Western movies aren’t always light, but Red Country is still very clearly an Abercrombie book. The story centers around a quest of saving stolen children, a quest which takes the characters all the way through the Far Country, traveling with a caravan called the Fellowship, encountering indigenous peoples and mining villages and featuring characters well known from Abercrombie’s previous books. I liked the Western type story more than I thought I would, but I would have loved for some aspects to be explored further (Ghosts and Dragon people), and the ending wrapped up a bit too nicely.
