This book just reminded me sooooo much of the pressure that school work had over me for a long time. I wasn’t trying to get into Harvard, but I always pushed myself to do my best and sometimes that wasn’t an A and I had to learn to not let a grade define my worth. I have always loved school, but it was never something that came easily to me either and this book reminded me so much of the pressure that was Senior year both in High school and in college/uni.
It was done so well too where I truly felt the anxiety he did and the pressure that was building. Even in the sweet moments with Amir it was still like an underlying current in the story that was done so beautifully.
Amir and him though! Sooooo cute!!! I love how easy they found themselves together. How a queer relationship doesn’t always have to be this big thing but still matters too in the storytelling and self discovery. Again, very well done and seamless!
Also I’m not Jewish and don’t really know many who are around me, which made learning through this story an extra added layer to build on!
I truly connected with this story and think it’s a very important one that needs to be told for those still young and going through these immense pressures. I think it could help so many! Loved it!
