The Lies We Tell by Alex J. Adams

4.0

Here we have an entertaining story between a police officer who has been pursuing a man involved in different crimes for months, and a witness to a murder, who, in turn, was the lover of the murderer wanted by said police officer.

When the two meet, sparks fly between them, but not only the fact of being a witness and the police officer in charge of protecting him that prevents a relationship between them, but the fact that Ollie has already suffered and been used enough and tries to protect himself from another disappointment, and Nate, who not only has never been attracted to a man before (or so he says) but is also in the process of divorcing his wife.

There's a bit of suspense, angst and drama, kidnapping, torture and cheating (not between the MCs), but also pining and some steamy moments, and a hard worn HEA.

I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
