An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

3.0

rating:3 stars

if i had to describe this book in one word, it would be simple. the plot was standard and honestly, the climax was horrible. i don’t understand what happened at the end but i’m too tired to figure it out. but simple doesn’t mean bad, it’s an enjoyable book to say the least.

but where this book falls short is that it’s a standalone. nothing was developed, from the romance to the world, there was nothing that was explained in explicit detail because there wasn’t time to flesh it out. on top of that, the two main characters were so quick to grow on one another that nothing felt genuine (even though they were super cute) and things were only moving forward due to plot convenience.

i knew coming into this that a 300 page book meant that they’d probably say “i love you” at the end of a short time span, but i was still thrown off guard nevertheless, and that’s the main reason my rating is lower than it could be.
