The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout
4.0
I sprinted from the second book straight into this third installment, and thankfully, it picks up right where we left off. What I've noticed with these books is that the second and third entries dive headfirst into action, gripping the reader from the get-go. However, there's a bit of a lull in the middle that could use some tightening up. Then it revs back up towards the end. Seems to be the recurring pattern.
It's been a while since I finished this one, but what sticks with me are the vibes of more intricate mythology that left me craving some clarification. There's this spine-chilling action sequence involving the dead that had me on the edge of my seat. And I admit, I didn't know there was a difference between a goddess and a deity. *shrugs* All in all, I was left itching for more, but alas, I didn't have the next book in the series on hand.
Can't wait for the next installment, but I'll definitely need a refresher before diving back in.
