Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
5.0
this book was absolutely incredible. i couldn’t put the book down and ate up every single page. carley fortune, you are now on my list of favorite authors. i will devour a good childhood friends-to-lovers/ second-chance storyline any day, but this book just hit it right on the nail for me. the flashback chapters every other chapter always made me want to keep reading to figure out wtf happened between sam and percy. although i got like serious the summer i turned pretty vibes throughout the book, this was so much better by far. the slow burn between sam and percy throughout the flashbacks and the development of their friendship was so well-written and it had me giggling my feet in the air. after sam left for his internship thing before college, i did begin to suspect what was gonna happen, but when it did actually happen i was still absolutely devastated. the chemistry between sam and percy even in the present chapters was absolutely magnifying and I COULD NOT STOP READING! and the build up of feelings between charlie and percy was also very well-done. i could tell charlie felt something for percy since he was introduced, but i didn’t think anything of it because she was always so focused on sam. and then once they got older, everything started falling into place and i seriously applaud carley for that. because i didn’t want to ship charlie and percy, but it was so hard not to after how sam had been shutting her out and with how charlie began showing her how she deserves to be treated. i do adore sam’s character with all my heart though. his character development not only throughout the flashback chapters but also the present chapters was very realistic to me. and how amazing he was with percy in the present chapters made me fall in love with him even more. and the ending had me sobbing so bad bro. I WILL NOW BE RECOMMENDING THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE I SEE FOR THE NEXT MONTH AND THIS BOOK WILL DEFINITELY PUT ME IN A READING SLUMP.
