The Surviving Trace by Calia Read

5.0

I have had The Surviving Trace since April 2024, and I picked it up because I am fond of magical realism, and time travel is magical. The Surviving Trace is a captivating tale of love and time travel that will resonate with readers who adore historical romance, time-traveling adventures, and forbidden love, particularly those who enjoy complex, emotional stories with a strong focus on character development and a slow-burning, enemies-to-lovers romance.
Etienne and Serene are a grumpy, sunshine-loving couple working to build their lives despite being from different periods. I like how Etienne manages to believe Serene; she has to give him concrete evidence that no one knows about Etienne's time.
The secondary characters are very compelling and make the story more interesting.
I am fond of series sets that have the same characters, one after the other. If you liked the Outlander series, you would enjoy The Surviving Trace.
I will soon pick up the second book of the "Surviving Time" series because I want to discover what will happen to beloved characters.
