I was worried about reading this book, but it’s officially a new favorite!

I don’t like dark romance. I’m obsessed with Margot Scott, but I don’t like dark romance. The TW list is long (and completely accurate and appreciated) and the fact that it isn’t ‘safe’ was not something I was comfortable with. But it’s officially a top three Margot Scott for me. And that says SO much because I seriously LOVE her books.

The guardian trope is one of my favorites because I’m obsessed with taboo. Margot does taboo like a master and this is a masterpiece. I was thinking he would be mean to her - when I hear dark that’s my biggest fear - but he wasn’t. He treated her like she was precious. The ‘safe’ issue is honestly very grey for me. There isn’t really full-on cheating happening. He has a moment with someone else before their relationship begins and he shares her at one point, but I really didn’t think it was cheating at all.

The steam set my freaking e-reader on fire. The angst was perfect. The agegap was large and so was the devotion. I loved it. Truly loved it.

Five stars, four chili peppers, highly recommend. Seriously, take a look at the trigger warnings, but please understand that they are a warning of even the small things. I truly believe that if you go into this book having looked at the list and prepped yourself for mentions of these things, you will be okay with them.
