The Yearbook by Holly Bourne
5.0
I’m going to keep this short and sweet, otherwise I would be sat here writing a blabbering mess of an essay that would take you hours to read. The Yearbook is Holly’s best book to date and I thought it couldn’t get better than her Spinster club series. Boy I was wrong. Paige is such a relatable character and I was transported back to my own secondary school experience through Paige. I was the one who wanted to blend in and fly under the radar but unlike Paige I experienced verbal and physical bullying in school. A memory rose up from my subconscious when reading the “Most likely to” spread. I remembered how we were made to vote for the sexiest boy and girl in the year and despite complaints and bullying, this still went ahead. Paige’s home life shattered my heart into a million pieces whilst her friendship with Elijah and her relationship with her Aunt Polly put those pieces back together. This is the perfect book for anyone who didn’t feel in secondary school.
