Finlay Donovan Is Killing It by Elle Cosimano

3.0

Fun, but utterly ridiculous. Approach with the knowledge that is the sort of highjinks comedy made of misunderstandings, mistaken identity, where the MC is utterly out of her depths and where things only turn out fine through sheer luck. Finlay is a mess. Her relationship with Vero is nice, the best part of the novel. The love interests (yes, plural) are mostly bland and in insta-attraction with her for no real reason. Nick is especially uninteresting and like a thousand other love interests: hot, cop, pushy but not too much, flirty but not too much. I hate these dudes, I found him kinda repulsive. Fortunately the romance angle is not a major plot point. I think if I had read the print version of this instead of listening to the audiobook, I would have disliked it more, but the audiobook reader made Finlay’s voice interesting and sometimes funny, and it was easier to suspend disbelief for the incredible mess Finlay and Vero get in and out of.
