We Have Always Been Here: A Queer Muslim Memoir by Samra Habib
5.0
First of all, it's hard AF to rate memoirs. I am rating this purely on my own enjoyment/enrichment. I really, really loved this little book. It was so wonderful to see the world through Samra's eyes, which have a such different perspective than mine. I am so honored to be able to learn from her and her experiences. The audiobook was also really enjoyable, with a great narrator. One of Samra's main themes is being visible in a world that denies your existence. I would love to read more books that validate diverse experiences and root them firmly in reality. I love the thought that these books make it pretty hard to deny their subjects' existence, and I want to be a part of that.
