The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
5.0
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was both delighted and hesitant to begin it. The tone and approach to tidying (not to be confused with cleaning) was the same that I can shine on other people's houses, like my mother's, for example. I can speak to my mother and help her look at each item in question with the same attack Marie Kondō applies in this book. I have always known it was difficult for me to approach my own things in this manner, and I was thrilled to find that I could find that aspect in Kondō's voice. I borrowed this copy from my local library and before I'd even finished this book, I had placed an order on Amazon for my own copy, along with the companion that has pictures in it to better show Kondō's folding methods.
What I really appreciated were little words to live by that, upon reflection, immediately served to alleviate some stress. I was able to take stock and comfort in some of Kondō's words and handle my own personal items and my own personal tidiness before beginning to approach the other people in the house.
