I think it's a good prequel to the next book "The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King" to get to know the new characters better.

Still, I didn't find the story that groundbreaking, it was once again hyped to high heaven and so my expectations were very high. Unfortunately, I wasn't that impressed. But that doesn't mean it was bad. It was on a normal level for an in-between novella, but nothing more.
