For Every One by Jason Reynolds
5.0
This must have been an amazing speech when Reynolds presented it at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. I'm not sure what more to add to what thoughts other readers have already shared, but I'll say this: I believe For Everyone is indeed for every one of us whether you are a lover of poetry or feel like it's "not your thing."
It feels like it could be the next gift for graduates alongside Oh, the Places You'll Go or the wake-up call that someone needs in order to keep trying and keep dreaming.
What it also is, Reynolds already said himself, "A poem. A nod. A nothing to lose."
