It’s very hard to write a mafia novel that feels engrossing and original. This one didn’t get there for me. For some reason, it just seems harder to make the mafia tropes into something interesting than it is to make more general romance tropes into compelling reading. 

The characters fell flat for me. I read to the end because I enjoyed their intimacy and the sisters. 

I haven’t read the earlier books in the series and perhaps that impacted my experience as well.
