Spilt Milk by Kopano Matlwa
The story gives off an air of being a very simple narrative, when it is actually highly layered. The pages turn easily and I hunger looked forward to knowing more about the characters. But even at the end I was left wanting more. Maybe it is me. I simply wanted more. So much more. Not that all should be explained. Not all mysteries need to be fully solved. But there was depth that made me want to dive, and we did not. That the story could have still ended where it did, but the journey could have been plumper, richer. The author admirably dives into such thorny issues, where feelings run deep. Her books are books that need to be read. But I still wanted more.
Great read for book clubs - great for igniting good conversations.
