Foe by Iain Reid

5.0

Iain Reid is the master of unsettling writing! This is the 3rd book I've read from Reid and they've all been such a great time.

I loved the atmosphere of this story on an isolated farm setting. It felt very dreary and claustrophobic, which made me feel so much dread (in the best way!) while reading. The whole time I was wondering what in the world was going on, and once I caught on I couldn't wait to see how it ended. The way it wrapped up was perfect!

This story was super unique but it actually reminded me of a lot of different stories I've read, so if you liked King's 1922, The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey, or Comfort Me With Apples by Catherynne M. Valente I'd definitely recommend picking this up. (Or if you've liked something from Reid in the past as it has that same wonderful style.)
