The first thing that came to mind while reading Token, is Black Women are not here to save you! But we invariably end up doing just that. I loved Kennedy Mitchell and everything her character embodied.

Token mirrored a lot of what happens in society that people don't want to talk about. Kennedy and her best friend Aurora created a business that specialized in crisis management of the "race" kind. We constantly hear about people being exposed for being racists when videos or emails are leaked.

Beverley Kendall did a great job of discussing the hard topics of race, sexism, and hair biases and the love story between Kendall and Nate was great too.
