firs attempt (made it to 60%): too YA for me & i’m simply not captivated by the characters enough 

second attempt: got super fun eventually and the characters mean lots and lots to me. lots of world building introduced in a way that felt low stakes and therefore boring. but once it was mostly set, thinks took off (pun intended i think?).
