This book sets up a great story but the majority of this book isn't really the current story. Nothing really happens in the present time of the book but it doesn't really matter. The past story is captivating and the magic system is rather unique.

I wish a bit more happened in the present time of the book since so much happens in the past portion of it. But that's my only complaint.
