The Ministry of Utmost Happiness by Arundhati Roy

3.0

This was the most confusing, rambling, time-jumping novel I can remember reading in a long time. There were so many characters, I had a hard time keeping them straight in my head. Each character's story was interesting, but with the time-jumping and long, drawn out descriptions of everything I nearly gave up on this novel. The only reason I kept reading was because I wanted to know what would happen to each person.

I give the book 3 stars because the many characters' stories are interesting but difficult to follow and keep straight.
