I don’t know that I’ve ever felt such a lack of empathy for a literary character before. June is absolutely unbearable, unlikable, and cringey. I rarely root for a protagonist’s downfall the way I did with June but it was hard to find anything remotely redeemable in her. The ending was abrupt and left me wanting more.
