Reborn! Vol. 01: Reborn Arrives! by Akira Amano

funny lighthearted slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Right so this is my final suggested manga from my MAL secret Santa (who I still don’t know who it is yet lol) and not gonna lie, when you are first reading it, you do laugh your head off and enjoy it. You do get introduced to interesting characters (even the hawt ones like
adult Lambo and Bianchi
like cmon you have to admit you’d be excited when these two pop up XD).

Over time, I noticed a shift in the art style after reading 60 chapters, and the introduction of numerous new characters without proper context made it increasingly difficult to follow the action. I was really hoping for some growth in the main character, Tsuna, but he remained a typical shounen protagonist who only powered up when shot by Reborn. This lack of development made me lose interest and skim through the pages toward the end. The ending felt abrupt, and honestly, the story’s length—spanning over 400 chapters—made it feel overly dragged out, only to be rushed in the conclusion. I think the story would have been more engaging if it had been kept to around 200 chapters, with fewer characters introduced, avoiding the confusion and boredom that set in later.

Again, the introduction is nice and there are a good few characters that you’d enjoy seeing around Tsuna. It’s just a shame that the story and adding in random characters without an introduction was all over the place..
