Over My Dead Body by Sweeney Boo
5.0
This graphic novel had such a great vibe and essence to it. It was visually appealing and the story was unique and refreshing, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I appreciated the LGBTQ visibility and the found family trope and loved the familiars! Another small detail that really stood out were the quotations that began at the start of each chapter, setting the tone for what was to come. I was thoroughly impressed with this story and recommend it to fans of the supernatural.
*ARC received from NetGalley, though all views are my own*
Second time reading thoughts:
It really felt like even though it was a magical book--kinda fall cozy fantasy but spooky/YA horror--that the teen stuff felt relateable to real life.
This could be a really cool series to develop even further because the foundation has been laid for more and more layers of a really intricate world to be developed(magically, socially with magical and non-magical beings)
I also love the queer rep in this book, it felt very natural and appropriate for a YA graphic novel.
