I need to finally learn to read more reviews.... It started strong but then dropped off very quickly and the twist at the end was for naught, all the characters were trying hard for nothing in order to get to the end.
Let's start with the fact that the setting is supposed to be early 20th century, but it feels like it's set in our time. "Doing interviews", smoking a joint, all the vulgar language? That doesn't fit at all.
The ending with Tristan and Sara giving up the crown doesn't make sense to me either, because Tristan has fought his whole life to get it - that throws the whole story out the window.
And the final point was that Sara got a tattoo saying "Tristan's property". What? Toxic masculinity? Very cross the line.
I won't be reading any more books by this author.... Very disappointing.
