Hollywood by Charles Bukowski
5.0
This was my second Bukowski read, and my first in English. Which made it like it was my first, and firsts are always more enjoyable than the rest. The book I read before it was a drag so it felt even better for me to read this one in less than twelve hours.
The thing that make Bukowski a great writer is not his spontaneous plots(which this one kinda lacked it) it's all about making extraordinary characters in a natural background. I especially loved Jon and Francois duo, and lot's of other ones. I imagined Zach Woods as jon the whole time, which was fun. People like Bukowski don't tell you tales about life's meaning, they give you a story with some natural conversation and you are the one interpreting it. You might get an idea opposite of his and he just doesn't give a damn about it. Reading his books is like sitting next to a drunk old man and listening to his interesting tales, As true, as fictional and as interesting.
