The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang

5.0

This was a great follow up to the first book, and it did everything it needed to.

I absolutely loved all the different character developments. Rin got so much worse and better simultaneously. Nezha and Kitay changed in ways I did not expect, but also felt true to the circumstances in the story so far. Overall, this book was a brilliant character study with the whole range of human emotions in their rawest forms on exhibit.

There's not a single "good" guy to root for, and it becomes gut-wrenching the farther you get into the story. The entire plot felt like a car crash - horrified to look but unable to take your eyes off the collision.

I'm going into the third book excited and absolutely terrified.
