This book was just the little dark fantasy I was looking for, and there's so much packed into under 300 pages. It starts off a little confusing, but I was quick to get invested and I was really rooting for Marra on her quest to save her sister.
I adored all the characters and how their relationships developed. I genuinely enjoyed reading the way they interacted with each other, it felt natural and I loved that they joked with each other despite their circumstances.
I also absolutely LOVED Fenris. I'm so impressed by Kingfisher's ability to make me fall in love with all of these characters while also creating a cohesive, dark fantasy story in under 300 pages. It was the perfect length, and I'll definitely be recommending this to anyone who loves fantasy π
