The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

5.0

The Obelisk Gate is so, so brilliant, beautiful, tender, powerful, and immense. The sheer scope and intricate complexity of the world created by Jemisin is astounding. I have never been so enraptured by an author's world as I have with this one. The story is vibrant and the pages are simply teeming with life. Plus, the diversity achieved by Jemisin in this series is something most authors can only aspire to create so casually, so open, and so accepted.

She has such a soothing and pleasant reading voice, and somehow manages to convey with such wonderful subtleties, the difference characters' voices...her choice of accents, her varied cadence, and her range for a man or a woman is beyond perfection.
