The Prophets by Robert Jones Jr.

3.0

An exploration of love, paternity, loneliness, and religion on a southern plantation, with flashbacks to the richness of the tribal culture of the African homeland and a chorus of Prophets guiding the narrative.

Marked down for an excess of confusing, poetic sections that brought me out of the narrative more than I would have liked. It seemed like a slog to read at times and longer than was necessary.
