My Government Means to Kill Me by Rasheed Newson
I liked this book a lot more than I had expected!
I enjoyed learning about all the history of that era through the story, and all the footnotes with explanations about the people/movements/places that the story referenced were very helpful context.
Overall I thought the characters were full of personality and it was fun to read about them. The drama was sometimes over the top, but still faithful to the world that the author constructed.
