This book was longer than it needed to be. Every time I checked to see how far I was after reading for what felt like hours I had only gone like 10% in the book. I will say I was very much intrigued by the game and I liked the plot however, I felt like the romance and the spicy scenes took away a little bit from moving the story forward. I liked both of the main characters. I thought they had good banter and I liked the FMC. I thought she was very clever and funny. I didn’t really feel like the MMC stood out from other male characters that I’ve read and felt like he kind of blended in.
I picked up this book, even after knowing that I did not like the initial trilogy at all. And I definitely liked it more than the kingdom of the wicked series but I just don’t think this author is for me. Something about her writing just makes it hard for me to connect and want to read more. I wish the game aspect was emphasize a little bit more and explored deeper because that part was great. However, I think overall it’s a solid romantic fantasy book.
