God of Fury by Rina Kent
5.0
Wow. I’ve read @author_rina’s books before both with my eyeballs and my ear holes, but somehow I still had no idea how much I would love God of Fury.
Bran and Niko are polar opposites. Brandon King is carefully controlled and Nikolai Sokolov is chaos personified. Bran is straight-presenting and in a relationship when he first encounters Nikolai and if this were real life, I’d be absolutely disgusted by Nikolai’s relentless pursuit of Bran. Like, go the fvck away means go the fvck away. But this is dark romance and I devour a relentless pursuit. This one is delicious.
Nikolai pushes Bran’s boundaries and knocks down his walls with a whole effing lot of effort. But it’s worth it when Bran can’t stay away.
Bran’s definitely not ready to be a couple and his twin brother and Nikolai are enemies anyway, so their relationship is a secret to everyone.
Both men have mental health issues and please know there are several things that can be triggering written about here, so do read the content warnings before diving in.
Their story, their push and pull, their laying out of their hearts and souls is beautiful. The way they tease and care for each other is gorgeous.
This is an exceptionally well-done audiobook. I mean, you’d expect nothing less from @shaneeastreads and @narratedbyteddyhamilton, but this is honestly some of their best work, imo. Bran’s intensity and desperation is voiced so perfectly. Nikolai’s insouciance and boiling anger is flawlessly brought to life. Honestly, does anyone do insouciant better than Teddy Hamilton? Or intense better than Shane East? No. Nope. They are the vocal embodiments of these characters that are now among my most favorite.
