I loved this. It's the story of four siblings, who in New York in 1969 visit a fortune-teller who tells they each the day they will die. The story then has four parts following Simon, Klara, Daniel and Varya and how what they learned on that day affected how they lived the rest of their lives.
The story bowls along, the writing is fine, and the detail of their lives so wonderful that all four characters (and those who circle around them) were very real for me.
Highly recommended.
