There is a lot to love about Love in the Spotlight by Toni Shiloh. I very much enjoyed this highly engaging and totally endearing Contemporary Romance. What I enjoyed the most about this book is that it got me thinking on a lot of topics. Yes, the characters are fantastic as they always are in a Shiloh story, but in this book it’s the themes that really resonated with me. Like the idea that some of us really, really care what others think. Especially those we have put up on pedestals. Clearly, we know this isn’t a great thing, but some of us do it almost automatically. And then we get twisted up in a giant knot of anxiety because we’ve let what others think or say about us matter SO much. This is Nevaeh’s issue. I like how Shiloh wrote her character in a way that this issue sort of snuck up on her. When she was just Neveah Richards, small-time hair stylist trying to break into the Hollywood studio scene and her social media following was small, caring what others thought wasn’t such a big deal. But when she became Neveah Richards, girlfriend to the Sexiest Man Alive and Hollywood’s Golden Boy, Lamont Booker, things change and she begins to see that what people think about her matters BIG time. I love how when she realizes this about herself, she consults strong, wise women to get their points of view, and then takes her issue to God. Lamont also has some hang-ups. The one that resonated deeply with me is his need to control everything. When your father dies at a young age, and then your beloved mother gets sick later on, you definitely tend to become a control freak. But this, too, creates in us a knot of anxiety. It also makes one super exhausted. Because we are NOT meant to be the Boss. God is. When we try to control everything, we tell God we don’t trust Him. This is not good. I very much LOVED Lamont’s journey to chilling out and letting God! So, so good!

Yes, The Love Script is another fantastic Contemporary Romance by Toni Shiloh. It definitely has superb chemistry, swoony kisses, and some excellent and lovely characters. But my favorite aspect to this well-written novel is all the many timely themes brought up in the narrative. If you are a fan of Contemporary Romances with depth, then this is definitely the story for you!

I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Amazon.com on August 2, 2023, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
