i'm giving this 3 stars because tbh i wasn't that invested in it. i think it's definitely a good book, like the elements of fantasy are cool, and the characters are great, but i just don't think it's the type of fantasy i like? it just didn't hit yk i just didn't connect to it very much. the plot was kind of lacking, it was really long, so i kind of got disinterested sometimes. however there were some parts i really liked like nick and bree's relationship and also sel's plot was really cool. i love nick so much i think he's such a sweetheart. i liked the first half of the book where nick was kind of helping bree discover everything about the mum and the magic and all, i felt like that part was really fun. however, after that it just flopped a little. also, it got confusing like i am genuinely not sure about anything that happened bc the plot is so confusing lmao. i'm not gonna read the sequel right now but maybe eventually.
