I listened to the Finnish translation of Ashley Audrain’s The Whispers (translated by Helene Bützow and read by Karoliina Kudjoi) while oiling our terrace. Oiling is quite a brainless job, so I could focus on my audiobook and the four women of The Whispers kept me entertained. There’s a senior keeping an eye on the neighbors, a doctor suffering from recurrent miscarriages, a stay at home mother and a career oriented woman with a difficult relationship with her children - one of which falls from a window. This event escalates discord in the neighborhood and leads to secrets being revealed. I was immersed and interested, but wanted something more. More action perhaps?
