Denise has done it again: written a steamy romance where I fall in love with the characters and am rooting for them the entire book. 

This book picks up 5 years after Pearl and Cord last saw each other, when Pearl walked away, breaking both of their hearts. This is a second chance, forbidden love. There were some really great tension-building scenes in this. I loved all of the personal growth we see in both Pearl and Cord. Also loved the dual POV!! 

I especially loved seeing a Black woman get to thrive in her career and learn to have it all. There are a couple of nonbinary/genderqueer side characters in this book, which was so great to see. Also, loved the inclusion of mentoring and how important it us. 

I definitely recommend this! The audio was really good as well.
