The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

4.0

I saw the movie years ago and only recently heard that the books are well worth reading AND since the movies were never finished I decided to give it a go.

What I definitely like about the story is that it is written much like C.S. Lewis is reading it to you in the moment. He sort of over-explains a lot and uses text in brackets to further explain which I find kind of funny. Keeping in mind that this book is written for children ages 10 and written in a different time period.

I think I'm biased because the movie was so magical to me and reading the book takes me back there. It's why everything is extra vivid and why the Pevensie kids are so real to me. I see the actors who portrayed them while reading.

Storywise it's not the best book I've read. It moves quickly (which I don't mind) and skips certain points I would have like to read about. Like the battle at the end that we arrive at late and are told about by Peter when he tells Aslan about how Edmund saved it. And the crowning.

I can't wait to introduce my kids to Narnia. The way C.S. Lewis describes it does paint a lovely picture.
