Absolutely Flawless

This book kept me in a constant state of nausea and chest tightness with all the emotions it wrenched from my soul. The writing is absolutely flawless and Ricci does a superb job of putting the reader exactly where she wants you emotionally.

While this story is fantastic it starts with alot of angst and tension. Easton and Cannon both go through things that can be typical of a blended family, but add in Easton's unrequited crush for Cannon and Cannon's perceived unattainable perfect son status by his father, which is supposedly filled by Easton, and you get many years of fighting nd tension between the two. After a night of underage partying goes wrong and a fight between Cannon and his dad comes to head, Easton doesn't hear from him for the next 7 years just when he thought they were finally moving forward. And while the one thing that brings Cannon and Easton back together 7 years later is something so unexpected they could have never planned for it, it will undoubtedly change both their lives forever.

I honestly don't think I will ever get over this book or these characters. I almost felt like I was reading a horror book in that I was constantly 'looking around the corner' or waiting for the next 'jump scare' in a manner of speaking. But that's what makes this book so perfect. You're going to feel a portion of what these characters feel, and that's hard for an author to do. I've read many books and not felt a single thing, but I felt anxiety from the first paragraph of the prologue.

This is gritty. This is raw. This is gutwrenching. They are not perfect. They make mistakes. God do they make mistakes. But it's beautiful. This is easily one of my favorite reads of 2022.
