Creep from the Deep (Goosebumps Horrorland #2) by R.L. Stine
3.0
If this sounds familiar, you’re probably correct. Billy and Sheena are characters from the original Goosebumps books, in Deep Trouble (I & II). Now they’re back… with a very similar plot. They’re off visiting their uncle… who they lose. Trying to find their way back, they run into pirates. It’s a very confusing plot because one minute one thing is happening, another minute something else and we’re left trying to put it all together. Then on top of it, this ends with the two of them being admitted to Horrorland… which made no sense because there was no connection to that either. At least in the first book, there was some kind of bridge between the stand-alone story, and the continuing Horrorland one; it felt like this book could have done this better. We do see Britney and Molly again, which leads us to be believe each book will follow the same format. As for the horror elements in this, this wasn’t quite scary, there were a few moments of oh no, nothing truly stood out. The overuse of the word “vomit” got old quick. The characters were alright, again, nothing truly memorable or special. The reader does look forward to the next book though, to see what will happen next in Horrorland.
