The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer
5.0
This was absolutely fantastic! I don’t normally buy the physical books before reading the ebooks first to see if I like them, but I did it backwards this time and it’s good that I did. I want this trophy in my shelf. I want them all on my shelf. Every copy I can get. I know I’m late to the game on this but I don’t care.
I’ve been hounding my husband to read this (he won’t read any sort of romance at all) but I’m hoping to break him down because I need to share this phenomenal story with someone who is physically in my life as well as my bookish friends!
I usually don’t experience emotions while reading books, I tend to be pretty detached from the stories. But I could not put this down and I felt like I was on the spaceship right along with Ambrose and Kodiak. Every triumph, every setback, every discovery, every teardrop shed felt like my own. I know this will be a book I read many times over.
The author is an extremely gifted writer. I loved every second I read this story and I wish with every fiber of my being that I could wipe my memory and experience it again.
The sequel is out already, but I’m going to sit and marinate with this a while. I know the signs of a book hangover well by now and I’m deep into one at this point.
Do yourself a favor and read this excellent story if you haven’t already.
