Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun

4.0

I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely very long for this type of story, and that’s a lot of listening to both characters sort of repeat the same things over and over (particularly every time Logan said a variation of “Janelle fucking monae”….like please stop lol), but I think it gave the author time to build on some really important themes. The themes about death were particularly poignant - I loved how real and raw the author let us get with the characters as they dealt with Joe’s extremely drawn out and painful death as well as wrangling with how important he was to them and actually feeling that. I also thought this book did a good job touching on home/comfort - how the characters struggled to find that home physically on the map, how they dealt with straying from the path and its consequences, and grappled with the people that defined home for them. Really cool to read. I just put another book by Alison Cochrun in my Libby to see what else she can do!
